Youth Rugby

Sunday 12th October 2008 may well go down in Old Williamsonian history as the day the long term future of the rugby section was born.

Much praise must got to Dan Harrison for making it happen. The much hyped 10 year plan was finally unveiled earlier this year and phase one was introduced today.

9 under 12 Math School boys were inspired to attend the first ever youth rugby training session.

Chris Norris, Matt Clemens-Lary and Jamie Collins were in attendance to provide the coaching and the quality of the youngsters was impressive.

All the boys appeared to enjoy and will go back to school on Monday to spread the word to the rest of their school mates.

Well done to all involved and let's see the new section go from strength to strength.

October

The season is under way and things are progressing on and off the pitch.

So far the Old Wills have played 3 and won 3 in the league, fielded a second XV and are launching the youth section on Sunday 12th October.

Next second team game is scheduled for 18th October.

Without a doubt things are looking up for the best looking club in Rochester.

Off the pitch things are also developing well.

The first mass invasion of Rochester High Street saw all but 2 members of the club meet in "Craaan, seven firty". Old Willy hasn't heard any reports of outrageous behaviour at the time of writing but it's a safe bet there will be a few tales published by the end of the week.

Social events being planned include a race night, date to be confirmed and a Christmas do on Saturday 13th December.

All sections will be invited to both events, a first in OW Rugby history!

As ever more players are needed, now the season has started the injuries are appearing.

Both the Twin Towers were unavailable last weekend, neither was Phil 'I don't want to hurt my scab' Scott.

Hopefully all three will make a welcome return next weekend when the Old Boys face Guys Hospital for the first time.
